I remember playing with dolls when you were a child? If you were like me, who had a Barbie doll or two in your toy box. Over the years, I created clothes for me and my family, wearing decorative windows and decorative items. Ruth named the doll after her own daughter, Barbara. And now almost half a century later, Barbie is still in the hearts and boxes of toys for children (and adults) everywhere.
Our kids today have more toys than ever. Electronic toys, video game systems, iPods and computers are just the beginning. Much has changed in the world of toys since we were children, but one thing has not changed is the simple love of the Barbie doll. Barbie now has new friends, new clothes, new house, new animals and even more than it was 40 years ago. But girls today still enjoy dressing and grooming Barbie to act on his fantasy life during recess.
My grandmother was a seamstress.
Well, as I began to create beautiful dresses, all who saw them wanted to buy them, so I added to my online craft store. I had a suitcase full of his creations by hand, and the neighborhood kids come over so we can dress the dolls. I liked the choice of fabrics and clothing styles of the collection. Although I did not know it then, the clothes she made for my dolls were better than anything I could buy in a store.
As you can imagine, because my grandmother was gone, I was left to myself to learn to sew. I spent hours in front of my Kenmore sewing machine turn on beautiful creations. He came so naturally to me. Barbie was introduced in 1959 by a lady named Ruth Handler (co-founder of Mattel). Later, I spent about five years to get ready to wear clothing changes to the general public. So 10 years ago, a dear friend gave me the greatest birthday gift ... a Barbie doll.
Let me tell you, you're never too old to get a Barbie doll!
While going through some old boxes at our last move, I found a box with more of the Barbie clothes my grandmother had done. The conclusion has inspired me! I want to make new clothes with food of the day for my Barbie doll. What better way to doll clothes by hand? She would sew beautiful clothes and accessories for my collection of Barbie dolls. I could not believe that answer. I received so many emails from people who tell me stories about their beautiful mothers, aunts and grandmothers who hand their doll clothes when they were children. So I knew back doll clothes by hand for today's families would be the beginning of new traditions and help create beautiful memories and gifts that might be transmitted across generations. In a world where everything is so commercialized, is back to basics with Barbie remember a wonderful moment in my childhood.
Now you can provide that gift to others is a true joy.
